Every year, Nikon hosts the Small World Photomicrography competition. Any photograph or video taken with a light microscope is eligible. As usual, there were some stunning entries. You can see all the winners, honorable mentions and images of distinction here. Trust me, it's worth a look. One of my favorites: Dorit Hockman of the University of Cambridge captured 20th place with this image of black mastiff bat (Molossus rufus) embryos:
That's absolutely fantastic! That must be one of the greatest pieces of art I've ever seen! :)
