Just for fun: Beetles!

There are a lot of beetles in the world. Some estimates put the number as high as 100 million, though only a few hundred thousand have been described. That means we have plenty more to learn about beetles. Udo Schmidt, a retired researcher from Germany, is doing his part. He has spent half a century collecting beetles from all over the world and photographing them.

Here's one I particularly liked, a Eupholus amalulu from Papua New Guinea.
Eupholus amalulu

He has lots more pictures and information on his website.

Hat tip: Not Exactly Rocket Science.

More crazy beetle pictures here, plus a discussion of the phrase, "an inordinate fondness for beetles."
